  • My strawberries are confused!

My strawberries are confused, and so am I! I noticed a few weeks ago that they were flowering. Hmm, I thought, isn't that unusual in October. Today I noticed that they're actually in fruit. Lots of little green strawberries. Um!? In November?! Surely that isn't right? What should I do now - take them undercover so they'll ripen, pick off the strawberries, .... ????

    Very bewildered

Mine are doing the same, be intrested in replys.
Planned in leaving them in ground over winter - don't know if this is right thing to do. Wait and see!

My alpine strawbs are in full production too. Can't take them indoors or cover them as they run wild around the patio. They will just have to do what they feel is correct. I also have raspberries forming on my Glen Moy - don't know if they will survive to ripen but they are okay at the moment. Been a very odd year (even to a new gardener)

Sounds just like a weather thing, sometimes if they are sheltered they will give you up to three crops a year, depending on variety. I've noted that Marshmello does this, giving one heavy crop and a short burst in early autumn. I'd just smile and eat them as they come and any the frost get, well let Jack have them.

Don't think they'll ripen now. We are actually supposed to be tidying up our strawberry beds at this time of year, trimming off all dead leaves and surplus growth. I've been trying to sort out mine for the last 3 weeks, but it's got so matted it's going to take forever. I'm tempted to dig the whole lot up and start again.

I had the same problem with my strawberries too they bloom around a week or so ago.
I was told by my experienced neighbour to cut the flowers and even to cut most of the old leaves of the strawberry, it will give them better circulations and to avoid disease.
And by doing so the plant will have enough energy to produce bigger fruit at the coming season.
Finger crossed, and hope it work as what has been said...
