  • Joan J availability

I've seen a number of good reports on this variety - they all seem to indicate an edge over Autumn Bliss.

I live near Edinburgh and find that Joan J does not seem to be available locally. Is it sufficiently new that it isn't generally available or does it not do well in Scotland ?

    Thanks for any input

    Rob

Most fruit growers have it but Ken Muir has it for certain

Hi Rob, I think 'Joan J' is still fairly new which is probably why you haven't seen it locally but it is widely available by mail order.Marshalls, Suttons & Unwins all have it at various prices of around £16-£19 for 10-12 canes, probably cheaper than Ken Muir but not sure. I don't see any reason why they shouldn't grow in Scotland, you grow the best raspberries up there anyway! The write ups for' Joan J ' all say it's better than 'Autumn Bliss' & is spine free & a long cropper so it sounds like a good choice.
