  • Bare Root, how old

When a fruit tree/bush is sold as bare root, roughly how old is that? I'm thinking of ordering Goji berry sold as bare root but they'll only fruit from 2 year onwards, so had better act soon.

I think the term 'bare-rooted' relates to how the plant is sold rather than its age - bare-rooted rather than in a pot. Bare-rooted plants are normally sold in their period of dormancy in the winter/spring. They can be sold at this time without damaging them as they aren't growing, so I expect 'the plants' could be any age.

I think they may be one or two year old trees.
I recall seeing a choice of the two when I was ordering a plum tree, so opted for the more expensive 2 yr old for the same reason as you......and then managed to kill it in it's first summer!!!!!
