I have 3 strawberry plants that have served its first year producing runners and this year is my entitlement to the harvest. All three are in a pot but I fear the soil I used may not be good enough for the best possible results so would these plants suffer if I replant them. Am I stressing them unnecessarily? They grew very big last year so I imagined the roots are massive just comparing to the runner ones whose roots are very bulky.

Replanting Strawberry

Replant them now in a John innes No3 compost. The roots wont be massive but will fill a 4 inch or so pot so go bigger.
If you havent done so already cut off all of the old leaves being careful not to snip off any part of the crown which will be bursting with new leaves ready to pop out cometh the spring.

I have a strawberry question too please. (raises hand politely!)
I planted a load of strawberries last year in a special strawberry planter thing (several different varieties which i can't remember at the mo.) and didn't get much from them but they are now starting to poke their heads through the soil again.
Am i supposed to feed them anything as they are still in the same soil as last year & surely they will have used up most of the goodness from it?
Any advice greatly appreciated
