  • Free GYO mag Tayberry offer

    Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone had any experience with this fruit before I order one.

Is it particularly easy to grow?

For the price of postage it might be worth a gamble anyway.

    Any views appreciated.

    Thanks
    Liam

I love tayberries, planted one two autumns ago and got lots of delicious fruit last summer - they are really, really easy to grow.

However, it has the same growing habit as a blackberry, so don't make the same mistake I did and put it too near to anything else!

On the plus side I'm hoping to move some runners this year and have lots of tayberries growing up the fence on the new alloment.

      Thanks,

I have a bit of my plot in partial shade as the plot next to me has a large blackberry bush - do you think i could put a fence there to tie it to and plant it or would it be better on the other side where it would get more sun?

Sorry, I can't help with your query, I am thinking of planting a tayberry too. I mainly wanted to say Hi and welcome you to the vine.
        Happy Gardening,
        Shirley

My one only gets sun in the afternoon and is romping away, so I don't think they're too fussy - you might be better to save the sunny spot for something that's a bit more picky about where it does well.

I've sent for the freebie one too. I have no idea where I'm going to put it though.I was thinking of putting it in a large pot as I have done with raspberries but now I'm worried after reading what Jeannine's put about their growing like wiidfire!

Do you like raspberries ? If so get a tayberry as they are similar in taste and very easy to grow.

I like most fruit thankfully so will give it a go - sent my cheque off. If it doesn't grow its not cost a lot so might as well try. If I get one large tub of fruit i would be more than happy as it would work out cheaper than a tub of raspberries from the shop.
