The Telegraph have got a free offer on today for 2 Diva apple tress. They're not totally free of course, you have to send £10.99 post & packing & they are 5ft tall bare root trees. I was wondering if it's worth sending for them, I might have to start them off in large pots until I find some room. Has anyone heard of or grown this variety?

No such luck SBP. They also mention that 'within the first year of planting they will produce 30 to 50 red blushed apples, followed by years of heavier yields than most varieties'. I am tempted to try them as the apple trees in our garden are not producing and have been neglected for so many years I don't know how to go about reviving them.Happy Gardening,

It will need another apple tree in the same pollination group or the one above or below.

Hello, everybody. This is my first time on here, so lets hope it works!
The DIVA apple trees in the Telegraph offer came from Thompson and Morgan, although they don't list this variety in their on-line catalogue.
I emailed asking for planting and pollination instructions - with this result:
DIVA APPLE
M9 rootstock, semi-dwarf reaching height 6ft.
Recommended for small gardens as a dwarf bush or trained against a wall.
Will pollinate with a wide range of other apple varieties
Dessert apple, fruiting from November to January
Please refer to Apple Duo.
Do any of you have any idea what they mean by Apple Duo?

Thanks for putting the information on for us. I didn't send for the Diva apples in the end as I couldn't find anywhere to put them. It seems strange that Thompson & Morgan were the suppliers but they didn't have them on their website doesn't it, maybe they're a newish variety they're trying out? The reference to 'Apple duo' must be the kind of tree where you get 2 different varieties grafted on to one rootstock so maybe it's available on one of those also.Into every life a little rain must fall.
