Really ??? Hugely shocking, I could almost faint!!! I've waited and waited and watied for these cheapies stores to get their act together to simply just name the blasted fruit berry bushes that they keep flogging at 'disposable' prices.

So I wonder what's in it for onliners, garden centres and nurseries if these cheapies are going to supply you with the best varieties there is? I just hope my local Aldi is stocking up fruit bushes as I'd really like the Big Ben to replace the Ben Lomond that I got from Woolsworth which although is named, it ain't exactly the top 3 best .

Please can you tell me what varieties you've all been able to get so far. Thanks.

PhantomVeg, thanks you SO MUCH for your tip - we went to Aldi yesterday and got 30 new fruit bushes for £10!!!!

        - it's been the perfect inspiration for us to finally get on with the fruit cage we've been dreaming about for the last 3 years! By the end of the weekend it should be finished.

They are all nice-looking plants too and named varieties.

        Hope you got your allotment?

30 fruit bushes for £10 ! How did you manage to grab such a bargain? I know they currently have 3 different fruit bushes per pack for £1.99. Was it half price? And they were all named variety? Did they have any Big Ben Blackcurrant? Thanks.

OOOps, you're right it should have been 30 for £20, my OH went halves with me, so I only spent £10 which is enough to confuse my poor old brain. (maths isn't my strong point...)!

The blackcurrants were Ben Conan, and there were 3 different named raspberries, red and green gooseberries ( I can't remember the names but I'm not a big Invicta fan personally), tayberies and blackberries.

They also had a few propogating sets and some good deals on bird seed and bird feeders.

Thanks for the clarification LOL! I still don't think they have Big Ben blackcurrant because it's a recent development with high development costs to be sold in Aldi doesn't makes sense unless someone can confirm that they have actually bought Big Ben from them. The Ben Conan is one of the better ones to have among all other blackcurrant variety and Jonkheer van Tets for redcurrant.

Just heard from my friend Becs that they're doing fruit trees for £3.99 on the 21st Feb, including apricots!

That beats even Wilco's £5 specials.
