  • Raspberry questions

I have just recieved some raspberry plants. I had a lot so planted them in pairs about two feet apart. They are about 2/3ft tall and will apparently fruit late summer. My question is do I need to cut each fruit cane back or should I just leave them as they are? Thanks.

The norm is to cut them back to about 9" to 12" which will allow the plants to make a better root system. This will mean little or no fruit this year but a better and healthier plant in the long term.

I would say, be sure of your variety first. Summer fruiting you leave as they fruit on last years growth, but autumn fruiting you cut down to 6 to 12 inch

either way, I would leave them at 12 inches for now and see how and when they fruit.
