i was talking to the bloke who used to have my plot. he just used the greenhouse. He pointed out to me that he had put a pomegranate bush in the border but said he has never had any fruit off it. Do u think it is possible to get any fruit from it??

Not a clue, but Woolworths had a pomegranate bush/tree for sale so I guess they must be suitable to grow here.

Not necessary, there are two kinds. One is an ornamental which doesn't fruit, just throws small red flowers which have an insignificant fruit on them.

The other is a tree which allows the fruit to mature - I have a chum locally with a pomegranate tree in her garden and we get loads of fruit off it each year - but it takes a good while to mature and it needs a lot of good hot sun for extended periods.

Come on Shirl, Woolworths? It's like a few years ago when B&Q were following their contract with a certain television gardener and selling date palms by the bucket load at inflated prices because he said it was the thing to buy and plant - an awful lot of refunds under the plant guarantee the following year!
