So just 5 weeks down the line, baby lemon is growing quite well. Its been repotted into free draining compost and (thanks to shirlthegirl43) has been fed with winter feed. I'll swop to summer feed in the next week or so. The new 'baby' leaves can be seen at the top of the main stem and on the branch (mid picture).

This thread really helpful as just bought a little lemon tree (bush?) from wilkos.
About to pot it on so been reading up v carefully, thanks guys, saves me froma sking all over again!

      janeyo

One question though, it will be in the greenhouse as not got a conservatoey, how warm does it have to be to let it go outside?

Another question, it says not to pot it on too big, but it only in a 10cm pot, so what size next? A small terracotta? About 20 cms or another plastic plant pot?

      Thanks

Careful if you put it in the g/h janeyo. We put ours in there on a sunny day, nearly had a crisis - its new leaves wilted, dramatically. We took it out the g/h and stood it back in the dining kitchen table and it recovered. Since then when its been sunny we've stood it outside on the patio, but not in the g/h.

We don't actually have a greenhouse yet (lol) it's on order to come hopefully next week.

My peach tree gets put in the shed each night and brought out each day, unles really cold. I will have to do the same with the lemon.

I thought they liked it hot, but don't want it to wilt before had a chance to do anything,

          Thanks, j

Your peach tree would be fine outside at this time of year, mine's been out ever since it flowered. Re the citrus trees, my lemon and lime are both in the greenhouse (were over wintered in the conservatory) which has just had it's auto opening vents reinstated for this year. They will both be brought out full time onto the patio proabably during the middle of next month and be there until the autumn.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
