They are open on Sundays's and if you have time, I would certainly pop in and see what they have left.

We bought ten trees from Aldi a couple of weeks back. Great value and wasn't expecting much in the way of quality, but they all seem very good apart from the Bramley apple, which had its tap root snapped off...

                Hope it recovers!

Oh this site is sooo nice. Your'e not being critical of people who buy cheapies. I have bought today 2 conference pear trees in flower 4 foot tall from Wilkinsons. I put this on another thread but said I had 'acquired' because of the cheap price 5...silly me lol. Anyway, the question I was asking is, would it be ok to plant the trees into large pots, and also how large and deep should the pots be? Any advice greatly appreciated. I just love trees, especially fruit trees.

Hi can any tree lovers give me some advice please. Last winter, 07, I planted various fruit trees in a site that I am turning into an orchard, this was in Italy. We had the driest winter ever and some died. However some are now sprouting leaves from low down on the main trunk, but above the graft. I dont want to throw them all away, can anything sensible be done? Should I prune the tops off? Stella

Don't let anything grow below the graft. If nothing grows above the graft then you will have to start again. But don't be to hasty, first remove anything growing below the graft and give it a few weeks before making any decisions.
