  • Raspberry shoots

Just been down to check on the beds and found that my Autumn Bliss raspberries, which I pruned back earlier last month appear to have new growth coming out of the ground about 20 cm in front of the canes??? This has happened in two of my beds. It's just a couple of bright green raspberry leaves in each instance.

Is this normal and should I do anything??

    This is perfect!
Autumn raspberries fruit on new canes so the shoots you see popping up will be the ones that produce this year.
If I were you I would only pull up any that were really far away from where i wanted the row and make sure the rest have a good support of bamboos and wires (also netting nearer to fruiting as the birdies like them)
    Good Luck!

That's great! I had a few shoots which 'walked' a long way from the original plant, so I dug those up and re-planted in a better place.

Can't wait for the raspberries - they are my favourite fruit bar none.
