  • Quince Trees

I planted a Quince earlier this year. It is now flowering at the bottom. Should I remove these flowers?

From what I read about fruit trees the books say to remove all fruit the first year to allow the tree to establish. My new pear tree had loads of flowers but only one pear started to develop. Removing the fruit is a lot easier to do than removing the blossom. Wait and see what develops from the flowers. That way you can enjoy the flowers and then make a decision about the fruit if and when it grows.

Hi sparrow,I once made some quince wine,it wasn't very nice. You can make a jelly with them but I didn't care for the taste so I didn't bother. There are lots of recipes around for jams and jellies, try your local library for a start.
