after reading a thread here thoght I would give it a go despite it probably being a little late. Anyway I planted some seeds and ONE has germinated this week but think its poorly!!! At the moment its in about a 3" pot and the seedling is as tall as a wooden lollipop stick and its grown that high in 2 days. I took it out of the propergator and put it on windowledge but after a few hours it started to wilt so I put it on top of the propergator and it seemed to perk up a bit but it still wants to flop a bit and isnt straight. Should I keep it on top of the propagator for the time being do you think? the stem of the seedling appears to be quite strdy but no others have germinated so I want him to live!!!

I grew these last year and the seedlings are complete wimps.
They wilt, they struggle, they sit there for what seems like weeks doing nothing. Then one day, when they've reached about the 4-6 true leaf stage, you nip indoors for a cuppa and when you come out they're pushing the glass out of the greenhouse roof. (OK maybe it's not quite that dramatic, but you get the idea) Just keep them warm, watered and in good light and they should be fine, and I'm sure the others will be through soon.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I have found them very hardy and surviving in March temperatures... I think then that they must like hardening. Mine are never that fast either: A month to germinate and leaf growth depends on compost.Comment

Yeah, I tried them last year - took absolutely ages to germinate, then looked really weedy for a couple of months, then took over most of a 12'x8' greenhouse!!Comment
