    calling all fruity experts.....
I would like to grow strawberries at the lottie this year.
We're a family of 4 and I'm wondering how many plants I'll need to produce a decent amount of fruit and whether I'm best to stick to one variety that all fruit at the same time or different types??
    Answers on a postcard please.........

Good question. If you want to extend the seaon, you could go for early, mid and late season variety but for each season, you may need at least 10 plants and even then I don't know if that's enough to feed a family of 4.

Wilko are selling early, mid and everbearer season variety but only 3 runners in each pack that can easily produce enough runners by summer/autumn to give you over 15 plants for next year! It's a cheaper way of acquiring 3 varieties if you don't mind the waiting.

Personally, I'd go for at least one early variety (for the earliest harvest possible) and one everbearer but don't know how consistent the harvest is over a longer period. Obviously taste is another issue.
