How can I grow more hazels from my 4 plants?
    cuttings? when and how
plant the nuts? do they come true?

sorry if posted in the wrong place

I Suppose nuts are a fruit, anyway I have tried several times to get hazel cuttings to take without success, but have planted the nuts in the autumn. The young trees have not been as prolific as their parents but I have got some nuts off them in later years - not usually as big as their parents but quite tasty.

      Hi,

I have pruned a hazel tree and have used some of the branches to support some plants. These have started to grow so I have taken them out and put them to one side to 'die' completely. As for growing them from nuts, my friend has hazels growing in his lawn, carefully planted there by the squirrels in the autumn!

          Stooling ??
I tried all my Christmas nuts this year - but they all rotted.
I left them in their shells & put them in a tiny electric propagator.

I've had better luck with Mango stones - tho' I take the kernal out before planting.
I'm going to try this next year with Christmas nuts again.

I bought some Hazel twigs of an auction site last year. They are about 4ft high now - in pots - & are getting this years foliage. It's a first for me, so I don't know if i Will get flowers/fruit this year or not.

          Good Luck
