Blossoms Beating Leaves and Frost on Blueberries

It's only my second year of organic gardening and I was wondering if this is normal - some of my currant bushes have fruit appearing before the leaves have really appeared. The apples are blossoming before many leaves have appeared too.

I covered the blueberries in fleece during the recent frost as they were full of flower buds - not sure if frost will harm the flowers, but I thought it couldn't hurt! Any thoughts?

Blossom usually appears before the leaves, I assume this is an evolutionary tactic which aids in pollination as the insects will have easier access. I'd cover any flowers if possible during a frost, - not easy on my plum tree which was seriously nipped - but remove it as soon as possible so the bees can get to them.

Ah, for some reason I expected leaves first, then blossom! It makes sense what you said though.
