OH has come home with some unidentified fruit!

He bought it from the Moroccan shop, but that does not necessarily mean its from there!

Its small, about or slightly bigger than a gooseberry. Light green, no stripes or other colouring. Hard. SOUR, i tried one before he started boiling them and had to spit it out! Round.

Thats about it, have spent the last hour searching and have come up with nothing!

    HELP!

Could it be an olive? Without a photo we could all have lots of fun guessing but I doubt if any of us would get it right.

hm, did it have a pip inside? if yes, then this would be a variety of a plum (sorry, don't know english name for that), but in middle eastern cooking it's used a lot, fresh or dried. You can also dry them up, make sheets out of paste, and it's used in stuffings for chicken or fish, grounded with walnuts ans onions (yum!!!). This fruit is green sour if harvested immature, otherwise it grows into nice, yellow and sweet plum
