I have a new Coronet mini apple tree 'Red Devil' & it had two tiny baby apples on it but blow me if it hasn't just dropped one of them! I have heard of June drop when the trees drop excess fruit but surely 2 wasn't too many? It had quite a lot of blossom on it when I got it & is in a pot on the patio but maybe I was expecting too much to get fruit in it's first year?

Yes, most new fruit trees when replanted will drop all their fruit, they are busy though building up a strong root system to support the fruit next year. Just to give you an idea, I have a cordoned Queen Cox, now in its second year, first year all the fruit dropped in June - this year I have 7 apples.Best wishes

In Scotland, June drop occurs in July, but we still call it June drop. Maybe as your apple trees mature you will get a better crop. My daughter has mature apple trees in her garden, she does nothing to them, but the crop is phenominal.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
