Logan Berry Plant

Hi everyone. A kind friend at work has just donated a Logan Berry to me that he is no longer going to be adding to his garden. It is still currently in a pot and looks like it will not fruit this year due to lack of room growing. I plant to replant it into a larger pot to keep it alive.

I just wanted some advise really. It says that it can get to the size of 180cm by 230cm. Is this in one growing season or over a longer period of time? I was hoping to keep it in a large pot because I hope to move next year and don’t really want to plant it into the ground only to have to uproot it again next year.

Im' afraid I don't have the answer to your questions as it's my first year growing logan berries too. I was searching the forums for advice on logan berries myself!

I don't imagine that it will grow to 180 by 230 this year, so you should be OK to put it in a bigger pot for this year, then plant it properly next year.

My question (if anybody has any idea?) is whether logan berries fruit on new or old shoots? My logan berry has gone mad (to put it mildly) and has put on a huge growth spurt. I'm wondering whether this new growth is what I'll get fruit on next year, or if the plant it putting on unnecessary growth that I should prune back?

I have flowers on it at the moment and a small amount of fruit which is just starting to ripen, so I find it odd that the plant has the energy to put into making all these vigorous new shoots!

I just want to know if I should keep them or not - I'd hate to cut it back a bit and lose my fruit crop for next year!!

Looks like they fruit on last years' growth. Number 5 in the below link suggests this anyway... I have logan berries (but very tiny this very - first year) so at least I now know too!
