Split bark ?

Hi, I have had a Bluberry plant in a container through the winter, I have just planted it ( I know, its poor, new arrival in the family haulted my gardening duties ) on planting it I noticed the bark on one of the main branches has splint and has come completely away. Will it grow back?, is this a desease? should I prune that branch off?

Congratulations on the new arrival!!!!!! It sounds like it is a canca, if so then I could prune that branch away to avoid spreading and feed the plant with a high phosphourus high potisium fertiliser to encourage root and shoot groath.
