gooseberry advice please

i have put in 5 gooseberry plants which are looking pretty good at the moment they all have a good amount of healthy foliage, will they fruit this year? there is no evidence at all of any fruit lurking on the plants, is it too early yet or will i have to wait for a few years?

I would have imagined that you would have seen the fruit by now. It is less normal for them to fruit in the first year and in many opinions such fruit should be removed to promote good root growth.
