  • Where to put strawberries

....after they have finished fruiting - where/how do you keep your plants if you need the space that they are in?

    er, you leave them be.
Where are yours? If you need the ground, you'd be better to keep your strawbs in their own container ~ a trench-style planter is good for them.

Took a lot of mine out last year and put them in pots as slugs got all the strawberries in garden last year. They have survived fine and producing strawbs although the ones left in garden look ok too (so far ).

All mine are in pots, various big juicy style ones in a huge planter and I've just planted the 20 alpine ones from seed I sowed in January in window boxes. Am hoping that they'll look pretty and provide me with a few fruits for with my cereal.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Last year all my descent sized strawbs I grew in a wooden barrel got slugged

This year bought some black guttering and fixed it to fence posts so hopefully no problems with slugs or birds. They are doing fine but it does tend to dry out quickly, just need to keep an eye on it.

I had a problem like yours so I put them in hanging baskets. We thought this to be the answer (unless the slugs could bungi jump). They have been extrememly successful.
