One gooseberry on the bush

I have a gooseberry plant that has just one fruit on it... no flowers .... can I expect any more?

We were given the plant last year from a friends garden, so not sure if this is why the lack of fruit.

Should I be feeding it?

At the end of 2006 I moved a goosegog bush and in 2007, like yours, it produced only one flower and subsequently, the one goosegog. This year, you can hardly see the bush for fruit. I don't think they like being moved.

No. You have to be congratulated. Your first Goosegog Bush, and your very first goosegog. You should be well proud.
Anything over and above that should be a bonus. It was to me....!

Same happened to us last year - only one goosegog and then the birds nicked it But this year...
Hang in there, you should have loads next year.

I also have a few small fruit on my plant, but no flowers .... I was really excited when I found them and have covered the plant with a net.

I have neglected my garden this year(shame) due to all sorts of things and upon hacking back dock and bramble from my gooegog bushes have found them dripping with fruit and not a sign of the mildew or sawfly larvae that I have had every year.
Have I stumbled upon a cure for both or was I just lucky!
