Strawberries in baskets

Hi all, just wondered if someone could help. I have 3 elan straws in a hanging basket. One is producing fruit the other two are just producing runners - what can I do?
Read previous thread re runners in mid air I was wondering same myself.

I bought in some new runners last year that produced very sparsely, some not at all, however covered in flowers this year, could be you have to wait til second year for good cropping
