pollination - chillies

I have a healthy plant, producing flowers.

Do I need to give a helping hand, for pollination ?

Not too many flies around.

Chilli plants are self fertile and will generally pollinate themselves. However, if you want to give them a helping hand to ensure that lots of fruit are set indoors, use a cotton wool bud to gently sweep the inside of the flowers one after another, spreading the pollen as you go! My chilli's never managed the self-pollination thing - a bit of flowersex with a cotton bud and it's fruiting all over the place now.

Mine don't seem to be self polinating and so had a few flowers that didn't fruit. Been "hand polinating" for the past few days so hopefully should get some fruit soon.

when should the chillies appear? i've got quite a few flowers now and the first ones are dying off but i can't see any chillies yet...

chilies will appear from the dying flower if they have been pollenated...we tickle ours
