  • Moving strawberries

Could have sworn I saw a thread on this, but can't find it!

Can I move strawberry plants that are in flower/have little green fruits on?

    Is it safe?

    Thanks

They'll be fine if you can get a large root ball out and water well over the first week.

That's good coz we have some still in pots that we're about to plant out. Does anyone know the best spacings for Alpine strawberries?

If they're pot grown then you may be able to get away with it. If they're in open ground then now is not the ideal time to move them. Even if you dig up with a large rootball and water well you will probably lose the green fruits that are forming now as the plants will need all their energy to re-establish themselves. Why do you need to move them?

I've got 8 plants in 2 large (unmoveable) planters.... but I did have 12 plants....

The dogs have been digging them out of the planters and eating them

I've got a little strawberry bed they can go in, but was wondering if I could move them. I've already got another 10 or so plants, so don't mind too much if we lose the fruits on them for this year.
