I have been growing veggies in pots for the last two years with good success (I use pots as the soil is very heavy here). Are there any fruit trees I can grow in very large pots?

The Minarette (columnar) apples, pears etc are suposed to be OK in pots. They won't mind heavy soil thoug & you nly have to dig once

How about a fig? They are supposed to benefit from root restriction so are ideal for container culture.
You can grow goodeberries as a standard in a pot.
I would have thought any tree fruit will do OK as long as it is on a dwarfing rootstockComment

DrBill is right on, almost anything on dwarf rootstock will do fine in a large pot. Mostly you see apples, pears, citrus and figs etc. You can grow blueberry bushes with a cranberry underplanting, Cape goose berries etc. One of the biggest issues with container fruit is that you will need to water them a lot more often than ground based fruit, for really needy fruit this can be an issue so opt for something that's not too greedy.Comment

Kimbo, I've got 'Red Spur' 'Golden Spur' & Red Coronet apple trees in pots & they all survive fine but don't give very big crops. Also a patio lemon but this needs protection in winter.Into every life a little rain must fall.Comment

I have a fig tree in my yard and its doing great in pot. They like to be restricted if they are going to fruit.
