Pink Lady Apple Tree

Good Morning all. I always seem to be asking questions on here but what a super site to get the right answers - so here goes another one
I have tired to get a Pink lady, have googled and searched but no one apears to have any, the other tree that I have now heard mentioned is a Pinkerbelle(trade name) which is a dwarf pink lady. Does anyone know where I could get either tree?

I been a'googling for ya: Pink Lady comes from Australia, and is a cross between Golden Delicious and Lady Williams... You may have sometimes seen another variety called Cripps Pink in the shops and noticed the similarity ... it is actually the same variety, but the pinker apples get called Pink Lady, not Cripps.

I had a quick chat to a few UK growers and nobody had supplies of the trees – the general impression is that this variety is not normally grown in the UK. Cripps Pink is a cultivar variety of apple widely available in the Northern Hemisphere. It was originally produced by Apple and Pear Australia Limited by crossing the Australian apple Lady Williams with a Golden Delicious in order to combine the best features of both apples.
The company sells the highest quality grade of the apple under the trademark of Pink Lady. The apple has a distinctive pink "blush" mixed with a green "background" and has a firm crisp texture with a sweet-tart taste.

"Asda has defended its decision to remove Pink Lady branded apples from its shelves and replace them with generic variety Cripps Pink for long periods of the year, following an in-store trial which began on 1 May.

The supermarket aims to avoid paying a levy for marketing and promotion of the Pink Lady name, used on Cripps Pink apples that meet strict quality specifications

Again, it won't grow in the UK, it's not hot enough here, and we don't have a long enough growing season (long days).

Many thanks two sheds. I did find an english supplier last year but he had sold out tried again this year and although it came up on google couldn't find it on the site. The 'pinkerbelle' I saw mentioned on another forum (of which I am not a member) when I was looking. Ah well the thought was there. I love these apples, shall have to see if I can find something with similar taste. Thanks for your hard work:-)

There are literally thousands of UK apple varieties and you'd be better chosing one of those as they will be more suitable for our climate. I would suggest that you find an apple tasting session in your area come autumn time, taste as many as possible and then chose the one you like best. The ones you try should have been grown locally so should grow well for you also. Hope that this helps.
