  • Help! My cherry tree is dying!

    Hi Peeps,

I have a cherry tree in my front garden, I planted it this year & up to now its been fine. It's had buds & leaves & looked to be establishing itself but now its started to die off, it has lots of brown leaves & looks very unhappy

Any suggestions what it could be and/or advice?

    Regards

Has it had plenty of water? I have a cherry tree in a large pot and have to water it every second day! It produced ONE cherry this year, and the birds got it!

It's quite embarrassing to admit but I'm afraid its only had water when its been raining . Which is quite a lot recently! It's in the garden so I figured it wouldn't need as much watering from me.

My Victoria plum tree that I planted at the same time is doing really well (touch wood!)

      Congratulations on your cherry

If it has been very windy this can break the leaves off and can give the effect of lots of dead leaves.
Could it have too much water? - Is this area waterlogged when it rains?

It's funny you should mention the wind Vicky, it has been really windy up here. My acers have taken a beating from it but have now started recovering. It would also explain why my Victoria plum tree's doing better, it's more sheltered.

I'll have a look for a more sheltered spot for him
