  • propogating fruit bushes....

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i've read in GYO how to do this with blackcurrant bushes, but i also have a cranberry, redcurrant and blueberry bush, and was wondering how i prune them so that i can grow new bushes from the cuttings. they are all only small at the moment, but following GYO's advice, i have managed to get 3 hopeful new blackcurrant bushes from the one i have.
    thanks in advance. xxxx

Soft fruit is usually quite easy to propagate. Prune your bush, stick the prunings in a slit cut withthe spade, add a bit of sand to assist rooting and close up the slit. Wallah!!! Free fruit bushes next spring to give away or plant!
Gooseberries I find are usually better layered................put a heavy stone on a low branch and they will root where they contact the soil!
