  • Tiny new kiwi variety

I know I saw this advertised somewhere, the fruits are the size of grapes and you don't need to peel them. But I cannot find it anywhere.
    Can anyone help please?

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

    Hi Womble,

The variety of Kiwi is called Arguta and is available on DT Brown's website.

    All the best

Does anyone know how big these grow to?

I like the idea of having some fruit trees in pots next year.

When did you order yours? It says delivery from Feb/March on their site.... I presumed that was next year, so haven't ordered yet.
I also sent them a email asking how big they get, but still haven't received a reply.

just found KIWI FRUIT, ISSAI (Chinese Gooseberry) (Actinidia arguta Issai). Seems to be the smae varity for £5.99 on hedging.co.uk. Don't know if that helps. I'm thinking of getting 1 (only 1 i swear)

Are they single-sex? Kiwi's normally need X males for every Y females in order to pollinate.

                  These two are self fertile.

miss corerupted, I'm intrigued by the variety you found, it does seem to be the same type of kiwi. Maybe there is someone who will know more. Its a big saving money wise.

i just googled the name. Quite a bit cheaper than dt brown site. But postage was £7.50 so i'm going to look round more to make it worth ordering.

I'm also waiting for the more knowledable people to confirm they are the same. and than i'm oredering. i love kiwis mmmm

I think I ordered in june, I was expecting delivery next year but turned up yesterday, not sure why but looks very healthy and is a good size.
The care instructions say that it is self fertile, hardy and is a vigorous climber that can reach a great height. Says should be planted 10ft apart so think one will be plenty!!!!!
