  • Very late strawbs

After a very poor summer crop of strawberries, my plants no seem to have woken up and I've got loads of green strawberries. Any one else experiencing this? I had loads of runners from the plants that I didn't cut off and I'm wondering if that's the reason. All the leaves are going brown and they're still producing fruit! Would it be a good idea to stop them from fruiting as I don't think they will ripen now?

I picked half a dozen reddish pinkish ones y'day ... the slugs had nibbled, so the guinea pigs had them

Mine are also still going great guns. I bought abut 18 from the co-op - they were on offer at the end of the season [so I thought]. But, they are still flowering and producing. I feel it will stop soon though as it's getting too cold for the fruit to turn red.

I have loads of fruit and flowers on mine. As they are in growbags they have been moved back into the greenhouse to see how they go.

This has been a crazy year, we have shrubs and trees that have flowered two or three times. I have been picking raspberries from an early summer fruiting variety - they are being produced on tiny canes that have grown from the canes I cut down after fruiting. The strawberries have been producing flowers for the last fortnight and I have been removing the flowers. Still, the slugs have enjoyed this year, apart from the hundreds I have butchered !

Well, I've got some in the ground and some in tubs, I'll cut back the ones in the ground and move the tubs into the greenhouse; never know, with this weather, might get strawbs for Xmas dinner Glad to know it's not just my garden going silly.
