  • Strawberry plants

Ive recently accquired a Marshalls seed catalogue. Ive noticed they are selling Strawberry plants too plant out now. Does anyone recommend this course of action, or is it best to wait until Spring. Has anyone got any favourite varieties they would like to tell me about. I do like sweet tasting ones. I was thinking of the marshmallow strawberry which Marshalls reccommend. Cheeers. kind regards judith.

Bare root runners should be planted out on arrival but I took my own runners this year and they are all going to spend the winter beside my polytunnel in their 3" pots so I can plant them out in Spring.

I've just brought 5 unidentified strawberry runners home from hols in Spain (gift from parents) - I've potted them up into 3" pots and put them in the mini plastic greenhouse, but am a bit worried the change of temperature will give them a shock. The temperature has been in the mid 20s in Spain of late. Should I bring them indoors or what?

The two Honeoye runners I already had have died while I was away - not sure why, they were in the miniGH and didn't dry out or anything? - but anyway I don't want these ones to meet the same fate...

Thanks everyone guess i will be sending for my strawberry plants. I will put them under my fleece tunnels in my raised beds. Good news also, i planted some cloves of garlic from the supermarket, into pots and they are growing yippeeeeee. Now i'm going to plant more, now i know they grow. I just love garlic. I'D PUT IT ON MY CEREAL IF I COULD.

Who says you cant put it on your cereal, my ex mrs used to put red wine on hers!!!
My strawbs went into the deck about this time 2 years ago and were fine. When I get home I shall be cutting the runners off and putting them into the deck too.
