  • Leaves munched on Victoria plum tree

I’ve just noticed that our Victoria plum tree has had quite a few of its leaves eaten. We have three Victoria plum trees in total and the other two are okay. All the other fruit trees are also okay. Do I need to be concerned? Click image for larger version

Caterpillar damage, nothing too much to worry about - if you search the undersides of the leaves and any that are rolled up you may find the culprits and be able to get rid of them.

Could it be sawfly?...those would definitely need killing off.

I'm almost certain its caterpillar not sawfly - a little careful investigation of the remaining leaves will turn up the culprits I think.

Most likely caterpillar, as said above. Potentially, it could also be snail. Banded snails (those marble-sized ones with the yellow and brown shell) like to climb up shrubs and small trees to graze on the leaves.

thank you. Haven’t found any, and there’s no further damage.

We have an abundance of these guys around. I’ll keep watching and removing.
