Nope - you can absolutely never ever have too many strawberries!

And I dug up the lawn at my last place, every last blade of grass, only to have to redo it when I moved to live with OH and the estate agent didnt think it would sell as a huuuuugggge veg patch!

The weekend weather forecast is pretty poo - hope my poor ikkle strawbs are in a sheltered enough spot...... Good luck everyone!!!

well mine are pretty exposed, but all tucked up snug now, and 6 didn't fit so are in pots in the greenhouse, so at least they will be ok, cos i can bubble wrap them.

Sorry hun, never mess with the weather, could cause havoc, if you are panicking just lay some newspaper over them at night, its dark then anyway, and it will protect them until you can get some fleece, if its really cold during the day, then a day or two without much light wont harm them.

Mine are left on the plot some I have moved along a bit and the runners are in pots not yet taken from the main plant. Last year I just put lots of straw around them and they were fine but then I guess I am in the sout west.

i've read on on website that a good hard frost doesn't harm them but infact makes them bear more fruit the following year. hope you do well. that the nicest of all fruits. Ymmmmmmmmmm!!!

Once they're established I wont worry so much but they've only been in the ground a week and I'm not sure how long they'd spent outside before arriving with me ... soooo they got fleeced on Saturday just in case! I will remove it in a day or two though, don't want to mollycoddle them too much!

And cant wait for fresh strawbs next summer - cos yes, we ARE going to have a next summer aren't we?? (See Wellie, positive thinking for the weather!) .....

I think I must be getting obsessed with this growing lark or just going a bit do-lally! Planted mine out Saturday morning then worried about them all afternoon cos they looked so little in the ground and the wind was really stong and bitterly cold so bought a bag of straw (£4.99!!!) and was on the plot as it was getting dark covering them up!! Is this normal behaviour for a grown woman?
