I would have thought it will be ok, you can plant most container grown plants into the ground without too much stress to the plant, give it a good soak and top dress with compost or manure to give it a feed.

It will grow better in the garden than a container. If you have some manure you can us as a mulch that will help. Water it if we get a long dry spell in the Sumner. Resist the temptation to harvest any sticks from it this year while it is establishing itself.

Last year I moved a rootstock from the garden to the allotment planting into the brick-making clay soil with a doughnut of manure around it.
It is almost ready for some harvesting with a much bigger crown. It is worth leaving the leaves on for the first year.
From the less than ideal old location some more leaves started emerging so the new crown is now next to the one I moved last year. The ground had been walked on but that failed to stop it coming up so it is a bomb proof crown.
