  • First fruit set on 9 year pear

When we moved in had the long neglected garden cleared with a tractor - an actual agricultural tractor.
Anong other things we planted some fruit trees.

    The neighbours pointed and laughed.
We said "mild climate, good soil"
    They said "sustained 40kt winds"

We lost most of them as soon as they cleared the height of the wall.

The bees must have developed turbo boost this year since we see to have we quite a few blossoms set.

I live in a part of the UK with very mild winters. Please take this into account before thinking "if he is sowing those now...."

My pear set hasn't been very good this year. I think the damp weather during flowering time might be to blame.

Good luck, QW. Wind is devastating.
