  • Digging up raspberries

    Hi

I have recently dug up a raspberry bed. I have had my allotment for three years and despite keeping weed free and mulching etc I have had very few fruits apparently the bed was about 10 years old.

I would like to plant new raspberry plants in the same place but is this a bad idea if it is anyone have any ideas what would be good to go in its place?
I would like to keep it fruit as this is the side of my allotment all my other fruits are on.

    Cheers

You shouldn't replant with raspberries as soil diseases may have built up. Any fruit plant which isn't in the Rubus genus (cane fruits) should be fine to plant there, though. Or you could turn it into a veg bed, then turn a current veg bed into a new raspberry bed.
