  • Apple tree suffering from some sort of problem

Hi all, for the past two to three years this dwarf apple tree has a problem. The leaves brown up and the fruit will not develop properly and fall off. Is this some sort of infestation or virus ? Or is it hear stress ?

I have recently planted two new dwarf apples to create a mini orchard and I would hate to spread this problem to the other trees if it is some sort of disease or infection.

If the photos are not clear I can take and uploaded new ones.
Thank you kindly for any help.

The leaf damage looks to be some sort of moth caterpillar (the webbing is caused by them, and you can see tiny bits of poo in the webbing). I couldn't tell you exactly which one, but it's probably overwintering at the base of the tree, which is why they come back year after year.

The moth won't affect the fruit directly, though, at least not any fruit which aren't inside that mass of webbing.
The fruit falling off could be due to stress from a particularly bad infestation, although based on the pictures it really doesn't look that bad. Alternatively, if the tree is still young it could just be drought stress or you've been letting it try to bear too many fruit.

I had ermine moth on my cherry tree creating similar caterpillar webs to that in your photo forage420
Might not be the same moth, but have a closer look at the rest of the tree and see if you can spot any caterpillars or pupae

You might not have the same moth but this one can affect apple trees too
