Black Currants

Hi new to your community, and i was reading the growing guides on black currants and was surprised under the pests heading that birds are a pest of black currants...it didn't say what kind of birds...i probably don't have those birds but what kind do you have to protect them from...i live in strathmore, alberta and none of the birds here will touch my black currants...not even the dried ones in the winter...

My main culprits are wood pigeons, blackbirds and jackdaws- which also tuck into the redcurrants.
