orange blobs on cherry tree

I have about a dozen little orange pinky blobs, on the end 6 inches of one of the low branches of our tree. Tree is about 4 years old. Blobs about 2mm square each. Not seen them on it before.

Any idea what they might be?

Sometimes the bark splits in frosty weather and oozes sap, but it could also be the dreaded bacterial canker.

I've taken a pic, will get OH to put it on when he gets a minute.
It doesn't look like the bark has split, more like there are things growing on it.

Could be a mould or fungi of some sort? You get bright orange ones of those!

It's American tho', just googled it, not sure how they affect the tree though.

There's one called Orange Spot fungus. Clue in the name!

I think it's probably 'Coral Spot Fungus'. Here's a link to a couple of good photos & then one to some info.(scan down below pruning)

You should try to prune out the affected branch but don't do it until summer on a cherry or the tree may bleed too much sap.

Yes it's that!
Bit worried that it grows on dead wood But it is only one lower branch that we suspect got knocked when we moved it from old house to new one.

Could maybe cut off that limb then?
