  • Disappearing pears

Planted a dwarf Beurre Hardy pear tree last year, got 3 fruit. However this year it was covered in flowers and on taking a look last week these were converting nicely into little fruitlets, approx 20 I reckon.

Gone to the lottie today and noticed all the fruitlets are gone. They haven't simply dropped off as no evidence of them on the ground.

Only other thing I've noticed is ants farming black aphids on the new young upper leaves, but not sure how this would affect the fruit.

So it's a mystery where they've gone, any ideas?
    Are y'oroight booy?

The tree will have dropped the fruit due to the stress from the infestation.
The two solutions are anti climb paint around the trunk of the tree or locate the ants nest and blast it with crawling insect killer.
I have a plum that flowered and then never set fruit this year.

Its strange the fruits have gone & they haven’t dropped to the ground. Could they have dropped & somebody’s tidied up,maybe hungry rat or mouse, there’s always a mouse about, when you’re rid of one another one shows up. They can maybe fit four in their cheeks to take home for the family.
