  • Blackberry flowers

Masses of honey bees, as well as bumbles, were working these flowers along the footpath today.

I think I'll be able to forage a few blackberries this year.

They are just as bright on the strip between our allotments and the playing fields.

They should swell up nicely after all the rain we’ve had!

Yesterday I picked five and a half pounds of blackberries, some were as big as loganberries. I could have picked pounds more if I'd had a bigger bag. The bushes are laden down with berries.

I have puréed half, and turned the rest into jam. 😋😋😋

        Anyone else been berrying?

Only my domestic ones- the hedgerow ones aren’t ready yet.

We've lost a lot of hedgerow blackberries around here, but I do have a descent bush growing behind our shed.

Yes Mothhawk, I've been picking wild blackberries for the last two weeks.
I am freezing them until the end of the season and then they will be turned into bramble jelly.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I went to pick a whole load today. There are tons near where I live, and they are all huge fruits, too.
