  • Any fruit ideas?

I have a North East facing side of a pergola trellis and wondered if any fruit would tolerate growing in a shady area like that.
    Heavy clay too.

Most soft fruit would probably be fine with it. And sour cherries tolerate north-facing positions well, too.

Thanks. Can't say I've had sour cherries but they sound like could be alcoholic

You might have had them before without realising. They are the standard cooking cherry.

Although having recommended soft fruits, I would probably advise against raspberries or blackberries (or their hybrids).
They will grow and crop just fine in the shade, but the fruits are much more prone to infestation (by raspberry beetle and by fruit fly larvae) in the shade.
Currants or gooseberries are the way to go. Or rhubarb.
