Strawberry question

Hi all we have two beds of strawberries which were great in their first year, a little while ago we were told we should cut them to the ground which we did but in that time one of the varieties especially has grown quite a few leaves and they don't seem to be dying down with the frost they are green and healthy! what should we do?

Leave them alone, you should be getting new growth this time of year. Cover them in fleece to keep the frosts off but keep an eye for flowers, when you ideally should uncover them during the day and cover them again at night.

I didnt bother covering mine outside, even when it was -10C or so, they sat there in the ice, some leaves froze , but they were fine now they have defrosted, with new growth, they seem fine without covering at all.

I have frost resistant ones apparently. I was given them as runners so no idea what breed they are. They are fine even after the recent siberian stuff

I covered my Strawberry plants (in pots) in fleece at the beginning of December, they all look fine now. I missed a couple of runners that were in the soil and they look fine and healthy even though they haven't been covered through all this freezing weather!
