  • New Strawberry Plants

Hi all, I am new to growing my own fruit and veg and in dire need of advice.

I have 12 bare root strawberry plants (Strawberry Irresistable). Do I plant them out or pot them in inside?

It depends what the weather is like there, and the state of the soil - if it's frozen or very very wet soil, I would plant them in pots for now, them plant them outside when the weather is better.
If your soil is workable (not frozen or waterlogged) then I'd plant them outside. They have more than likely been outside if they're bare-root, so it shouldn't be a huge shock to them. If you're worried, you could cover them with fleece for a little while til they get acclimatised.

Thanks Sarah, I think I will plant them in pots for now. Do you think it would be safe to keep them in the conservatory? It does get very cold in there!
