    i forgot last year to move my rhubarb.......sure enough it disappeared and has come back, I have put my black composting bin over it to force growth............

      Thanks all for the advice. Once I can get out there in the dry I'll give it a go and split it up. It's been pretty good over the years (before it was neglected!!) Kids wouldn't eat it but they LOVED rhubarb juice in a wine glass with their Sunday dinner. That's going back some years too. Worked out the rhubarb was about 15 years when I posted the question but thinking of the ages of my children (37 and 34!!!) it must be older than that. How time flies.

        I'm awaiting delivery of a couple of crowns from Scotland. The mother plant is apparently over 60 years old. Am hoping it isn't Victoria as I already have some.
