i like golden delicious, and son likes granny smiths, so it's easier to buy apples than grow them ..... cherries and plums on the other hand are expensive to buy, so growing a few punnets full will pay for the tree in one year and size isn't really a problem for me.Last edited by lynda66; 07-02-2009, 12:30 PM.

Mark's point I think, is pertinent to apple trees - which are tricky to grow well.
