  • Favourite raspberries?

Would any of you like to tell me which raspberries are your favourites?

I'm just about to order after changing my mind a thousand times - and will prob go for Glen Moy (tho may decide not to have v. early variety); Glen Fyne; Glen Ample; Polka; Valentina (yellow one, early I think); and either Galante, Autumn Treasure or Octavia.

I'd like to know how yours got on!

I've not grown raspberries before but have just got Glen Cova which are supposed to be a heavy cropper. Others with more experience may know about other varieties.

Best summer variety for me is Glen Ample - berries are large, firm and very tasty. The plants withstand anything our summer weather throws at them. They start fruiting beginning of July into August. Best for flavour has to be Tulameen, but they are a bit soft. Glen Moy is the earliest variety available, put some in last year, haven't tasted them yet. Autumn ones - Polka is the earliest, and might just overlap with Ample, giving you a constant supply, and will continue fruiting till the first frosts. Tried Joan J. last year, wasn't impressed. Quite difficult to pull away from the plug. Looked at Autumn Treasure but haven't tried it yet.

Hello, if you google Scottish Raspberry cains, you will find where the best raspberries come from, and what THEY are growing...they say that most of their stock is Glen Ample then it is your taste. I have Glen Moy and Autumn Bliss
